I think that the reason why technology is so important is because it gives us a chance to do something and connect with something that we can’t get anywhere else. The technology gives individuals the opportunity to find a way to make it their life, and to do it with the kind of ease and effectiveness that we might not have otherwise been able to muster.
A common example of this is when a parent takes their children to the grocery store, they might not get to go to the candy store or the cereal aisle. But when that parent buys their child something they really want, it’s that same feeling of being able to get it for them. Technology gives us this chance.
The same could be said for any number of things that kids use technology to do, like making a video game, or creating a video game. When a kid is given a computer and a high-powered, special-purpose digital camera, they can create anything they want. It’s amazing when you consider that most of the kids that I see in my classes, especially in the arts, are using their computers to edit, create, and create new things that they have never created before.
My current video game obsession is with the game, Ape Escape, which is a series of games about animal escapes. The first game in the series, Ape Escape: Animal, was released in 1999 and has been re-released several times since. I’ve been playing the game for years, and I can’t imagine how much my own game could be improved. It’s an adventure game, so it’s extremely easy to create a new adventure.
