Many of the MRI machines that we buy for our hospital visits are not very good. What is even worse is that the machines are unable to differentiate between a head injury and a tumor. So, a patient who had head trauma on an MRI would actually be treated for brain cancer, but the head injury patients would actually have to go through the pain and trauma of brain surgery.
Well, we do hope that MRI machines will improve over the next ten to fifteen years, but I’m not holding my breath.
Well, we were talking with the head injury specialists at Johns Hopkins recently. They told us that even though they have the technology to distinguish between a head injury and brain cancer, they don’t have it yet. They said that it would take a number of years for the technology to improve as it’s still in its infancy.
Brain tumors are a rare event, and not likely to be detected on a MRI. But you have a 100% chance of brain cancer if you have one. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that all brain tumors are highly vascularized and will kill you quickly.
Not to mention that we don’t have the technology to discern which is which. And if we do, it would be pretty clear that the two arent connected.
The best way to find out whether or not you have a brain tumor is to check out your MRI. If you have one you will likely not have one. It’ll be a small spot and it’ll be easily missed. But if you have one, then you could be facing life altering circumstances, and you can be assured that you have no control over this.
One thing you can be assured about is that your tumor will be gone. There are three ways that we can deal with brain tumors. The first and most direct way is surgical removal. If you have a tumor that is causing you any kind of permanent damage, we recommend having it surgically removed. This is the safest (and most effective) way to remove a brain tumor.
Brain surgery is generally very successful, but it is far from the only way to remove a tumor. In fact, most tumors are removed by a less direct method: They are injected with a radioactive substance and then the tumor is removed using a gamma knife. The patient is able to watch the radiation treatment process unfold from the outside. This method has a better chance of being successful because of the patient’s age, but it also has a greater chance of causing permanent damage to the patient.
A recent study found that the effectiveness of the radiation method was greater when the tumor was smaller than it was when the tumor was large. The larger tumor caused a greater amount of damage than the smaller tumor. As a result, the radiation method was chosen over the direct method of removing the tumor.
Yes, this is the newest technology. In fact, this is an older technology that was found to be effective in removing tumors, but not large enough to be used with an older MRI machine. You’ll have to wait until we get the first results on this, but the more likely scenario is that it’s not the best method to try.
