I have been a geek for as long as I can remember. I grew up on the internet and watching television shows like “Bert and the Magic Eye” and “The Transformers”. I first got into programming when I was in elementary school. I remember one day during class when the teacher said we had to watch video of a guy on the street. She asked him what he was on and he told her. After watching the video, I was hooked.
I still think that I am the most ignorant person in the world. I didn’t know what “sci technology” was until a year ago when I was still in college. I wasn’t even aware of the acronym until after I moved on to grad school. It means a lot of things to me, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word “sci” until now.
You might be surprised to find that I’m a former software developer myself. Many of you might have seen my video about the world of the mind, which talks a lot about how I got into CS and how I worked on the programming language C++. I also have a video about something called ‘Cobol’, which is a language that I helped design and implement (which is why I was called in to work on it).
I just became a father last week, which was hard for me to believe. It made me realize how much my life has changed since I left college in the mid-80s. I mean, I was basically born in the US, but I have all the world’s problems and no idea what to do with them. So I guess in a way, I’m a refugee from the world I grew up in.
The game is still playing and I’m pretty sure I’ll be back next week.
I don’t know what I’m doing but I have a lot of fun with it. I like how the visuals are like that. We’ll take a look at it in the meantime.
With a lot of hard work and planning, this game is going to be a big winner. So far, so good. But I’m still at least as excited for it as I was for the other game. I have a lot more ideas to make it better. I think it’s going to be a lot easier to put into the story.
Im not saying that its all about the gameplay, but this game is definitely about the story, and it’s shaping some of the biggest ideas so far, so it’s definitely worth checking out. What I do want to talk about is the art direction. This game looks pretty goddamn amazing. I can only imagine how amazing it will look when it gets finished. I can’t wait to see it.
The art of this game is as stunning as the rest of the game. The character models look like they’re from another galaxy, and I’m sure the environments are as beautiful as they are. The lighting is so much better, and I can’t wait to see what the new engine will bring to my favorite sci-fi games.
