The best way I can think of to describe this is to call it being in a state of “autopilot”. That’s because we are the product of our thoughts, actions, and experiences. Our actions are often what we think, feel, and think about. Our thoughts, feelings, and actions drive the way we experience things, which then, influences our actions and thus, our experiences.
For me, it seems as if autopilot is a state in which we’re fully aware of the way our thoughts and actions influence our experiences, but without the ability to consciously change the way we experience things. I think we’ve all experienced moments in which we thought about a subject for a certain time, and then in our thoughts, our actions, and our experiences, we’ve changed the subject.
The way that I see it, if you want to influence your experience, you can’t just say “I should go buy some cat food.” You have to put yourself in a situation in which you can influence the way you experience things. So, you have to take a step back and say to yourself, “I know, I could buy pet food for my cat, but I’m not going to.
The answer to this question is, “No.” You cannot just get yourself some pet food. You have to take a step back and say to yourself, “What did I just do?” I have to say, I bought pet food. It was an impulse purchase at a store. That’s the point at which I took a step back.
The point at which you take a step back and say to yourself, I could have done this. You can only change your behavior as much as you control the situation you are in. Think about the difference between the two. If you were in a situation where you could not buy pet food you would not be able to say, I could have bought pet food. You would not be able to have an impulse purchase. You would be on autopilot because you cannot control your actions.
I think that is exactly what we are talking about when we say that we are on autopilot. We are not able to make a choice, buy our own pet food for example, that helps us stay on the path we are on; we are on autopilot because we don’t know what the situation we are in is. We are not able to step back and change our behavior so that we can have a pet.
Of course you could make some choices, buy a pet food, and do the right thing, but we are unable to control our actions because we cannot do that because we are on autopilot.
We are also not able to control our feelings because we are on autopilot. We are not able to know what we feel and what we want or what we feel we want. We are on autopilot because we are not in control of our own emotions. We are on autopilot because we are not aware that we are on autopilot.
Autopilot is a very convenient excuse for not being in control of our emotions. We are on autopilot because we are not aware that we are on autopilot. A person without self-awareness is incapable of feeling what he or she is feeling. We are on autopilot because we are not aware that we are on autopilot.
This is the point I am making. It’s not that we are on auto-pilot. It’s that we are on autopilot because we are not in control of our own emotions. This is the point where we need to stop and ask ourselves if we are in control of our own emotions. That’s the question we need to ask ourselves. If we are not in control of our own emotions, we are not responsible for our own actions.
