I am not a fan of the squishmallows, but I do love the texture of the homemade marshmallows. They are made with a mixture of granulated sugar, cornstarch, and milk. The result is a dense, chewy, and flavorful treat that is perfect for dipping into eggnog or even baking. I have also tried homemade marshmallows and have been disappointed.
I’m not sure what I’m going to make with them but I am sure they will be delicious. I am in the middle of making a giant marshmallow farm animal, and with all the time left to me and the boys I am sure I could make some of the best marshmallows. Maybe.
We have had some success with the marshmallow filling, but the recipe has some major flaws. First, if you want to make them as a whole batch, you will need to use more sugar and cornstarch than we suggest. Second, the granulated sugar in the recipe is very soft which makes it easier to scoop off of the marshmallows and makes them easier to eat. Lastly, the marshmallow flavor is not very fresh.

You would think farm animals would have evolved to be more forgiving of each other, but I guess we just don’t know the human animal. I love their squishy goodness.
The problem with the marshmallow flavor is that it is far from fresh. It takes two hours for the flavor to develop, so this is not something to make for a recipe you want to make as soon as possible. I guess it is a shame we didn’t add some extra marshmallows to the recipe, because I’m sure some of you would have liked a squishy marshmallow.
